Executive Committee Member

Executive Committee Duties

The President provides primary leadership for the Association with the following principal duties:

* To preside at sessions of the Executive Committee and General Membership Meeting.
* To appoint members of Boards, chairs of committees, and representatives to other organizations.
* To approve members of committees.
* To makes interim appointments and policy decisions as needed for operation of the Society.
* To call meetings of the officers, Executive Committee, and General Membership.
* To appoint a nominating committee to identify nominees to serve as candidates for
the positions on the next ballot.



The Secretary will report to the President with the following principal duties:

* To direct and coordinate the administrative operations of the Association.
* To assist in the organization of the efforts to plan the program and plan for
the next International meeting.
* To oversee all publications and website.
* To maintain current records of all official actions taken by the Association,
including taking the minutes of all meetings.
* To have custody and responsibility for all files, membership records, documents
, minute books and official correspondence of the Association.
* To inform members of the activities of the Association and of their membership
status.
* To prepare the agenda for sessions of the Executive Committee and prepare minutes
of said meetings.
* To provide a final ballot bearing all valid nominations for office to all eligible
voting members and to supervise elections.



The Treasurer will report to the President with the following principal duties:

* To supervise all aspects of the Association’s finances.
* To prepare, review, and implement the annual budget and approve other major
fiscal transactions.
* To prepare and send the Association’s annual financial report to the President
and Secretary for approval of the Executive Committee
The Regional Representatives and Junior Representative will report to the President with
the following principal duties:

* To represent the interests of the membership within their designated region to the
executive committee.
* To represent the Association in the region.
* To support the development of HTLV research and clinical care in their designated region.
* To participate in meetings of the executive committee.



The Awards Committee Chair will coordinate an awards committee to consider and nominate
to the executive committee the awardees of the Associations biannual awards. (In advance
of the biannual conference)



The Members of the awards committee will be selected from and appointed by the executive
committee to work with the Awards Committee Chair to consider and nominate to the executive
committee the awardees of the Associations biannual awards.



The Education Secretary will report to the President with the following principal duties:

* The development of information and programs for professional and lay education
relating to HTLV/PTLV infections.



The Conference Chair will report to the President, Treasurer and Secretary with the
following principal duties:

* To coordinate the organization of the biannual conference on the Association
with a local organizing committee.
* To coordinate the organization of the scientific program with an international
scientific committee.
* To pursue the goals of the Association through the organization of said conference.
* To agree with the President and Senior Officers the various responsibilities of
the association and the local organizing committee for the biannual conference of the
association.
* To report to the Executive Committee through the senior officers of the association
every three months on the Conference.
